But one place is really in my mind and I hope you or any other . Back in about '8. THINK it was on I- Drive. It had learning toys and games, and what I remember the MOST was right at the entrance of this store was a HUGE chess board on the ground accompanied with these HUGE chess pieces! I used to climb on them everytime! My parents cant remember the name (old age!) and I guess i never really payed too much attention to the name. That is how I found this site... It was a big learning and interaction place. So hopefully someone knows & remembers what i'm talking about! Thank for the stroll down memory lane! Two on Park Avenue, Winter Park in particular. The Rexall had the best carrot cake I've ever had (mother's recipe) and the son also ran concessions for concerts that I worked a number of. And up the street there was Taylor's (I believe) where she had daily specials and these tiny beaten biscuits that were Divine. She was always very careful with her portions, but the food was great and truely homemade. I also bought a lot of my comics there. And now for my list of places I didn't see mentioned: And now, as of this week, the rope swing on Gatlin just east of Summerlin where the kids used to swing into the lake. Fairvilla when there was a movie theater and a bowling alley. And remember the Parkwood Plaza? Grindle himself jump up and down inside a convertable saying ! I used to work for the engineering firm that designed the overpass at I- 4 by the new mall and I did most of the drawning for that bridge. So if you were to look at the set of plans for that job, you'll find my name on those drawings. I also did worked on the new interchage where I- 4 and the East- West come together. The Harem (the strip club) which made darn sure you weren't underage by every measure possible. And the Spacecraft store in Winter Park that used to sell military and weird surplus type items? And then there was the Vernor's Ginger Ale stand east of Winter Park in the mid- seventies. And there was a weird dollar theater in Sanford that served the worst Mexican food ever. And there was also a real cool Irish bar around there I used to frequent. I remember bringing in my mom's glass bottles for deposit and using the change for the penny candy and TV 3. D glasses for the 3. D craze, you know, the FIRST time around. I think King Kong 3. D came on TV? Anybody remember? But i missed it cause i was too busy playing my Colecovision. Water Mania. Angel's Diner - There was one on Aloma and 4. I remember correctly. Angel's- a 5. 0s style diner with a lt of locations around the Orlando area. Colonial across the street from the Western Way Shopping Center. Another beered up story to share- Yi. KEs! Another mentioned Herb's restaurant on the NE corner of 5. Haha! Anyone mention Rader's Relics? We didn't drool on them. Anyone recall a private property with a good bit of acreage that had a giraffe and other types of exotic animals in the front yard? People would stop there all the time to pet the giraffe. It was so sad when he died. Anyone remember Hot and Now.. It was a burger place owned by Taco Bell.. Man it was friggin cheap..
